Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I have to stay off my floor?
The typical timeframe for our services is 5-7 days for installation, 4-6 days for refinishing and one day for a recoat/screening. After each coat of finish, we prefer no one walk on the floor for about 2-6 hours, depending upon the type of finish used. Once the job is complete, please wait 2-3 days to move furniture back and up to 2 weeks to place down any area rugs until the product is completely cured.

What is the difference between refinishing a floor and recoating a floor?
Refinishing is a longer process in which the existing finish is sanded down to its natural state and then 2-3 coats of finish are applied. A recoat is a simple, one day process in which we buff the top coat of finishing off and apply a new one.

What if my estimate is more expensive than another estimate I received?
Not all contractors are created equal. I’m sure you have heard the expression “you get what you pay for.” Our installers are experienced in every aspect of the wood flooring industry. “Our work is guaranteed.” We aim to leave our clients completely satisfied with their floors and are willing to work with each client should they decide the initial choice of floor is unsatisfactory. Additional cost may be incurred, but we will do our best to leave our clients happy.

Our estimates are pretty straight forward, there are rarely any hidden costs once the job has begun.

What can I expect from Woodcraft Floors, Inc. before the work gets done?
We will schedule a time to meet with you and see the job site.

Once we have met and viewed the site and calculated the square footage, we can provide you with a rough estimate of cost, duration and scope of the project. We will be able to answer your questions and give you suggestions regarding which wood species to consider.

We will help you choose a flooring sample that fits your personal style and budget. We can also meet with you at a distributor’s showroom to review more exotic species of wood.

We will then provide you with a proposal for the job. This can also be done on-site.

Once you sign the proposal and provide a deposit, it becomes a contract. Your project will be scheduled and we will give you an adequate timeframe to prep the job site before we arrive.

Please feel free to call our office if you have any further questions.
